One of the most beautiful mansions dating back to 1875, situated right at the heart of
Kapesovo, was transformed into a guesthouse. It has been a labour of love with an ardent desire to keep the traditional features and characteristics of the local architecture, history and folklore.
Zagori means “the land behind the mountain”.
It is a Slavonic place-name and so are most of the old names of the villages comprising Zagori. Zagori is perched in a particularly beautiful part of the Pindos range in Epirus and its 46 villages are scattered among magnificent natural surroundings and rivers.
They are known by everybody as “Zagorochoria” (zagoro – choria: villages of Zagori) and they bear the unique Zagorian architecture with cottages and mansions made of stone, black slate and wood. They are also filled with an important local culture developed under unique social and economic conditions back in the 18th and 19th century.
Visitors are fascinated by the constant changes in the scenery around them. They can walk though pine and oak trees, stroll along the riverside or cross beautiful stone bridges over arching riverbeds and valleys.
The guesthouse has six en-suite rooms and they are all decorated according to the traditional Zagorian style, but also equipped with modern amenities such as TV, WiFi, homemade breakfast, laundry facilities etc.
Our guests are given the opportunity to either watch or participate in events around the guesthouse that are intrinsically associated with the old Zagorian lifestyle e.g. the vine-harvest, the wine-making in the wine-press, the distillation of “tsipouro”, the picking of wild mushrooms, wild berries, sage, wild dandelions and herbs like tea, mint, balsam. They are all unforgettable experiences infused by the warmth of a different era. In addition, guests can be taken on walks around the village or longer ones all adjusted to different levels of difficulty and suited to their preferences.
We always enjoy good company!!
